Best Natural Facemasks For Acne

Breakouts happen. And when they do, it’s tough to know what to do. Is a natural remedy the way to go or will a store-bought product do the trick? Well it depends on the acne type and your skin type. Here are 6 best natural facemasks for acne you can make at home.

6 Best Natural Facemasks For Acne

1. Turmeric Acne Mask

This Turmeric Face Mask Will Save Your Skin from Acne

A turmeric face mask is naturally antiseptic, antibacterial, and works wonders at soothing inflamed acneic skin.

  • Organic apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon of organic, raw honey (preferably Manuka honey)
  • Milk

Apply vinegar to a cotton ball and swipe all over the skin. Wait about five minutes before you apply the mask. Mix the turmeric powder with the honey. Use your clean hands to apply the mask, avoiding the eye area. Let the mask sit for 15-20 minutes then rinse with warm water. If the turmeric powder leaves a yellowish tint on the skin, use a milk-soaked cotton ball to go over stained areas. Mask can be used twice a week.

2. Avocado and Lemon Spot Treatment Mask

DIY Beauty: Anti-Inflammatory Avocado Face Mask - Rosanna Davison Nutrition

Avocado stimulates collagen production, which aids in cell regeneration. Avocado is also loaded with anti-inflammatory hydrating fats that won’t clog pores. The honey is antibacterial while the lemon juice lightens hyperpigmentation.

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • Half of a lemon

Mash one ripe avocado until smooth, mix in 1 tablespoon of honey and squeeze the half lemon. Mix together thoroughly and apply as spot treatment or to affected areas. If you have sensitive skin, use less lemon or skip it altogether. Leave on for 5-10 minutes. Due to the photosensitivity of lemon, apply this mask in the evening.

3. Honey & Baking Soda Face Mask

Honey & Baking Soda Face Mask

Combine anti-inflammatory baking soda with exfoliating lemon juice and soothing honey for an easy, effective acne-fighting face mask.

  • 1 teaspoon lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Add lemon juice, honey and baking soda to a small bowl. Mix well and apply over the face and neck. Avoid the area near your eyes (lemon juice and honey will both sting). Don’t turn this into a scrub by rubbing it into your skin. After 15 minutes, remove the mask with warm water, then with cold water.

A caution when using lemon juice: Although lemon has lightening and brightening qualities, it can also make the skin photosensitive. Rinse your face thoroughly, preferably use at nighttime due to photosensitivity of lemon, or be prepared to use a zinc oxide spf 30+ sunscreen if you’ll be out in the sun soon afterward.

  • 2 mashed strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons plain yogurt

Ildi Pekar perfects the skin of models like Miranda Kerr and Irina Shayk. Her DIY recipe for acne-free skin contains only two ingredients: strawberries and yogurt. “First, the lactic acid in yogurt helps dissolve dead skin and tighten pores,” she shares. Furthermore, it also has soothing, hydrating properties. Lastly, strawberries also happen to be high in salicylic acid which you may recognize as an active ingredient in your favorite acne-fighting cleansers.

Mash the strawberries well in a bowl. Then, mix in the yogurt. Afterward, apply over your entire face. Leave the mixture on for 20 minutes. Finally, rinse with lukewarm water.
