1. Inambakan Falls
Inambakan Falls is known for having a beautiful 100-ft waterfall that plunges into a wide pool of blue water. Surrounded by lush jungle greenery it is indeed an amazing scene. However, what makes Inambakan Falls such a memorable adventure is the multi-level trek to different pools and waterfalls.
The main waterfall is a 100ft flow of water, which crashes down into the blue pool of water. The orange tinge contrasts so vividly against the strong blue of the pool below. Visit Inambakan Falls is one of the best things to do in Cebu.
2. Sunrise hike to Osmena Park
The best things to do in Cebu are not complete without a hiking to Osmena Park at sunrise.
From Alegria, we organized motorbike to take both myself, a friend and of course the driver to Osmena Peak. It was only $10 per person return and was a 1.5-hour journey each way. It was very uncomfortable but the budget option. You could take a car here but it would be much more expensive. We had to leave before 4 am in order to make it to the summit before sunrise.
The Peak is known for having amazing panoramic views across jagged cliff lines and the ocean. We were told it would be best for sunrise and we were left speechless by the scene from the summit of the short 20-minute trek.
There is an entrance fee of a few dollars to the hike, which comes with a guide who you can choose to tip and of course the cost of the motorbike.
3. Walk on Colon Street
A trip to Cebu isn’t complete without a walk down Colon Street. While at a glance, this crumbling stretch of sidewalk may look dull but come a little closer and you’ll discover that there is much to see, do and taste.
Lined with markets selling colorful backpacks, jewelry, clothing, and shoes, this street makes for a great place to buy your souvenirs. Don’t be afraid to engage in some friendly haggling with smiley vendors. You can try yummy street food, mingle with the locals, and take some awesome photos on Colon Street.
4. Dive with Whale Sharks
The biggest fish in the world are right off the coast of the Philippines. Although they are called “sharks”, these gentle beasts are far from what you may imagine.
Oslob Whale Sharks Tour Company is one of the most respected in the business. They guarantee, with 99% certainty, that you will witness and have the opportunity to swim alongside a mighty Whale Shark.
These particular Whale Sharks are considered wild, but instead of migrating to warmer waters for parts of the year, they stick around as the fishermen continue to feed them. That means this experience is available no matter what time of the year you visit.
5. Explore Island
In a province that counts 168 islands, boarding a boat for a day of island hopping is one of the most popular things to do in Cebu. Whether you stay on Cebu, Mactan, Malapascua, Bantayan, or any other island nearby, there’s always an island-hopping day trip at hand from where you are.
Pescador Island is the main day trip destination from Moalboal, while Dakit-Dakit, Biliran, and Kalanggaman islands are three great island-hopping destinations from Malapascua Island. If discovering soft sand beaches lapped by turquoise waters is your idea of a successful holiday, then Cebu Province delivers.
6. Take the kids to Cebu Westown Lagoon
Located in Mandaue City, just north of Cebu City, Cebu Westown Lagoon is a resort with a water park settled in a large manmade lagoon. It’s equipped with giant slides and water fountains, as well as 2 large Jacuzzis for adults to take a break while sipping a cocktail.
Other leisure amenities include Happy Jacqs Café & Bistro, and karaoke with a selection of tracks in English and Tagalog. It’s the perfect place to spend the day with your family, or as a base for a longer vacation in Cebu.
7. Explore beautiful ancestral houses
Learning about Philippine heritage is a lot more exciting when you step foot in the homes of those who have come before you. An epitome of the classic “bahay na bato,” the Casa Gorordo Museum serves as an evidence to the richness of Filipino architecture during the Spanish colonial era. Nearby, you’ll also see the Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House and the Jesuit House Museum of 1730.
